Using the client portal to stay connected between sessions

A session is an hour a week; most of the change happens in the days between. The client portal exists to make that gap more than a record-keeping afterthought.

What a client can see in the portal

  • Upcoming appointments, with reschedule/cancel inside the policy window
  • Scales and forms assigned to them, completed directly in the portal
  • Their own progress curve — how their scores have moved over time
  • Secure, asynchronous messaging with their therapist
  • Assigned homework/exercises and completion status

Why this isn’t just a “nice to have”

Letting a client see their own progress curve turns treatment from a vague sense of “getting better” into something concrete. On the therapist’s side, it’s the input for reading how session frequency lines up with score movement.

The boundaries are deliberate

The portal doesn’t collect payment, doesn’t carry native video calling (session links come from Zoom/Google Meet), and isn’t a public booking marketplace — it’s reachable only through a link the therapist shares. Keeping the scope narrow is part of how it stays reliable.
